AAPT Infrastructure Overview
AAPT has a long history of supplying quality voice & data solutions for Australian Enterprises.  Our heritage connect.com.au and Powertel businesses have offered best of breed data services.  The successful integration of these businesses, in particular the Powertel merger, has presented an opportunity to refresh our network with the latest technology and fully utilise our combined assets, including the vast Powertel Business Grade DSL network.  This also includes 20% ownership of iinet, providing cost effective ADSL services where internet grade connectivity is required.

Core Network
AAPT’s $20 million investment into a best-of-breed MPLS core network – dual Cisco CRS-1 core routers in each major capital (Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra & Adelaide) and dual Cisco 7609 Distribution Routers meshed per CRS-1 and cross connected to the physically diverse CRS-1 in the same capital, gives AAPT a highly redundant core network platform.  Central Office geographic diversity exists in all CO’s except Adelaide & Canberra.  The core links are Carrier Grade Ethernet based, providing an easily scalable network to grow with our customer needs.

Provider Edge Network
A further $10 million investment in a new Provider Edge Network from Alcatel-Lucent provides AAPT the ability to deliver next generation voice and data services to our corporate customers.  As well as providing advanced Ethernet services that enables AAPT to deliver market leading end customer solutions, the Alcatel-Lucent solution features the Service Aware Manager (SAM).  SAM enables services to be deployed with a high level of automation.  It makes the provisioning of services highly repeatable, providing a professional deployment of services in a time efficient manner.  It also enables a high level of integration with a reporting package to provide advanced feedback of network performance to our customers.
